When your whole family loves to travel, it’s only a matter of time when the bug bites you. I have been lucky enough to do plenty of it growing up, but it wasn’t really until my 35th birthday in the Caribbean with my sister when it hit me and I realized how much I needed it in my life.

My curiosity for the world and sense of adventure waned when I joined the workforce right after college. I was too focused on my career. Then I had an epiphany–really, a spiritual awakening–that made me change my life priorities completely.

This energy had been growing inside me since I turned thirty, and it was five years later on one of the secluded white-sand beaches of Tortola, British Virgin Islands, when my chakras were in complete alignment and I was seeing things clearly for the first time in my life.

So, while I have traveled many times before, my birthday weekend on the BVIs is what I would consider a rebirth, in so many ways including my love for travel and adventure, and I reflect on this first eye-opening, life-changing experience that I am certain kicks-off what will be many, many more to come.
