Hello 👋, I’m Jonaliza!

I’m a marketing and communications strategist specializing in climatetech and clean energy, which I view as crucial to environmental conservation when responsibly developed and deployed. I’ve been fortunate enough to build a career doing work I genuinely care about: helping people understand real climate solutions and feel optimistic and motivated about climate progress. This commitment led me to the Marketing & Communications team at the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, where I support programs that accelerate climate innovation and clean energy deployment across Massachusetts. On occasion, I offer strategic guidance to mission-aligned startups and nonprofits, sometimes on a pro bono basis.

My climate journey started in the New York State government, where I spent nearly a decade working on environmental and public policy issues before moving fully into climate work in 2018. To deepen my understanding, I earned a Master’s in Natural Resources from the Virginia Tech Center for Leadership in Global Sustainability where I studied how natural and built systems interact. Today, that background shapes how I think about what it takes to make climate solutions work in the real world, across both natural and built environments.

Outside of work, I recharge through Pilates, archery, macramé, and playing my steel tongue drum. The ocean is my fuel and therapy so you’ll often find me exploring Rhode Island’s coastline with my little family or visiting other coastal places around the world.
