Hello 👋, I’m Jonaliza!
I’m a marketing and communications operative specializing in climate, sustainability, and the environment, with a strong focus on climatetech and clean energy, which I view as critical tools for conservation when designed and deployed responsibly. I’ve been fortunate enough to build a career doing work I genuinely care about: engaging people in the climate solutions that exist today and helping them feel informed, hopeful, and excited about what’s possible.
I enjoy turning complex climate and environmental topics into clear, engaging stories that highlight credible solutions. That approach shapes how I plan campaigns, develop content, and support organizations working toward climate progress. In my current role on the Marketing & Communications team at the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, I turn programs and initiatives into clear, audience-focused communications that raise awareness, engage stakeholders, and support program goals. I also collaborate with climatetech startups and environmental nonprofits to sharpen their messaging, strengthen their brands, and communicate their impact in ways that resonate with their audiences.
My climate journey started in the New York State government, where I spent nearly a decade working on environmental and public policy issues before moving fully into climate work in 2018. To deepen my understanding of the field, I earned a Master’s in Natural Resources from the Virginia Tech Center for Leadership in Global Sustainability, focusing on how natural and built systems interact. Today, that background shapes how I think about the relationships between natural systems, built environments, and the people who rely on them.
Outside of work, I recharge through Pilates, archery, macramé, and playing my steel tongue drum. Nature is where I reset, often along Rhode Island’s coastline with my family, usually somewhere near the ocean.
Thanks for checking me out! XO
